Covenant Groups

Covenant Groups are small groups which meet regularly because of a common interest or goal. Groups can be formed for spiritual purposes, for fun, to address common life issues. Members agree to attend regularly, to be respectful and supportive of each other, and to work together in some way to provide service to the church and larger community.

Goals:

To provide regular opportunities for lifting one’s mental, emotional, and spiritual horizons from the mundane considerations of day-to-day life.

To help people get to know and be known by others with similar interests in the relative comfort of carefully led small groups.

  About the Groups:

These small groups, always open to new people, meet on a regular basis in a member’s house or at the church.  All groups have trained facilitators, use a regular format, covenant together on how they will relate to each other and how they will serve the congregation and the greater community.  Groups are developed around topics of interests to members and friends of the church.

Membership in a New Covenant Group:

A facilitator will tell the congregation about the first organizational meeting.

The group will develop a “covenant” of agreed upon behavior within the group and for specific ways of connecting with the church.

If you no longer wish to be a part of a covenant group, you are asked to let the facilitator know.

The primary emphasis of Covenant Groups is to care for people—to serve them, to encourage them to spiritual growth, and meet their needs for affirmation and acceptance.  By creating an open, supportive, and nurturing environment, these groups promote and facilitate spiritual growth and mutual interactive care for one another, therefore, providing a quality of caring that most people only wish for.  The groups offer opportunities to search and grow at the individual’s own pace and in the individual’s own way, through learning together and loving one another.
